Bragging - show 'n' tell

My little sister is going to college for film.  She is given a fairly vague assignment on what to film - there are requirements and exclusions.  I am always so beyond impressed with what she comes up with.  She's incredibly gifted and amazingly imaginative.

I wanted to share some of her work.

1. Film a silent chase scene.

2.  I believe this one was to tell a complete story from beginning to end.

3. Film a location and convey an emotion, then add a voice over. (Turn up your volume or use ear buds for this one)

4. Long take - meaning it is shot beginning to end with one shot... no cutting or editing.

Music Video

My sister is going to a college for the arts. She's a freshmen. She has a Media class once a week for five hours. She started out with some assignments taking digital pictures which she liked okay. This most recent assignment was to make a music video using any song but it had to be between a certain time length. She had three ideas right off the bat. She went with the one you see below and she had a blast working on it. She worked hard and I'm super proud of her!

Public Enemies

Because of my intense, deep love for all things Johnny Depp, I went to see Public Enemies this afternoon. It didn't get the very best of reviews but I really liked it.

Only the sky was blue today

A couple of good things:

1. It was a beautiful day today. The sun was shinning, it was warm and bright.
2. I didn't cry.
3. I got an e-mail from a company I had an informational interview with back in February. I will be setting up an interview for that hopefully this week. It's not for the position I originally interviewed for but the president (whom I interviewed with) referred me to another department.
4. My upstairs neighbors will most likely be evicted due to the noise complaints.
5. Johnny Depp will be the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland.

More on movies later...

Private Viewing

I was the only one to buy a ticket for the 3:05 showing for Sunshine Cleaning. Good movie.

The reason I went to a movie was because I had to get out of my place since the person who lives upstairs has no concept of community living. The stomping and pounding and thumping and heavy walking and two-year-old running is far beyond what I can stand. It's alllll day everyday. I've called many times (usually because it's still going on around 10:30, 11:00 and as late [early] as 12:40 am). Today I noticed that Rosco was and has been tearing his fur out on his chest. I believe cats do this when they are stressed and anxious. Poor guy jumps and scats with every thump. I don't blame him. I'm near tearing my hair out as well.

The Road

If this movie is as good as the book I may see it five times in the opening weekend.

The Road is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Cormac McCarthy. It comes out on November 26 and is already generating Oscar buzz.
Starring Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron and 11-year-old Kodi Smit-McPhee, the movie was shot in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans and on Mount St. Helens in Washington state for scenes of devastation.
"It's tangible, the misery and hopelessness and the bleakness," Mortensen said of the shoot, which helped create the atmosphere for a film based on a post-Apocalyptic world. "It gives you much more to work with if you're filming in that world instead of a green screen."
As for the popularity of the story?"I think what's made this story so universally loved is because it's really about protecting your child, no matter what the circumstances," the actor said. "At its core, it's a love story."
Here's your first look at Viggo and Kodi Smit-McPhee in The Road:

What a difference a weekend makes

I'm feeling much better. Although, I'm tired from my busy weekend. I slept really well all weekend. I woke up a couple times with Sam snuggled in my arms. My sweet boy.

Libby and I started running. I need to get my butt in shape - literally! It didn't help that it was in the 90's and humid. We didn't run much/far since we're just starting out but I could feel it in my breathing.

I felt good after running though. I felt like I was doing something for me plus spending time with my sister is always a plus! I love that girl heart and soul.

We (Libby and I) saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I loved it! It was pretty funny. I love Johnny Depp. He can play any character fabulously! The movie was so wacky, what's not to like?!

I'm still waiting for my test results for my class. I'm entirely too anxious. I'm so afraid I'm going to fail and have to take the dumb class.

I did my friend's hair for a wedding she's in. I can't believe I didn't take a freakin' picture. It wasn't anything extraordinary but I like to take pictures of all my updos.
